Where Does All the Data Go? A Review of Research on E-Assessment Data

Abstract
E-Assessment systems produce and store a large amount of data that can in theory be interesting and beneficial for students, educators and researchers. While there are already several reviews that elicit commonly used methods as well as benefits and challenges, there is less research about the various contexts and forms in which data from e-assessment system is actually used in research and practice. This paper presents a structured review that provides more insights into the contexts and ways data and data handling is actually included in current research. Results indicate an emphasis on some contexts in current research and that there are two dimensions of data usage.
