Take Precautions: A Study on Social Credit System and Venture Capital Scale

Abstract
The study of social credit system can not only analyze and alleviate the problem of information asymmetry, but also provide more information about entrepreneurial characteristics for venture investors. This paper selects Shanghai as a sample and uses the data from 2010 to 2019 to make a regression analysis of the relationship between social credit system and venture capital scale. The empirical results show that with the increase of the credit score of a city, the proportion of the venture capital received by the city in the national venture capital will increase. When the credit ranking of a city declines, the proportion of venture capital received by the city in the national venture capital will decrease accordingly. Moreover, the rise of the absolute level of social credit system has a greater impact on the scale of venture capital than the rise of the relative level.
