Abstract

The G20 Summit, held in Bali on November 15-16, 2020, produced a joint declaration. The G20 summit was welcomed, given that the summit was held amidst an unstable geopolitical situation and rising tensions between major powers. The focus of this research is to see how much impact or effect a Gala Dinner event has in Indonesia to outsiders and how successful the Gala Dinner is as a way of public diplomacy by Indonesia to outsiders. This study uses a qualitative approach. This is because the results of this study are in the form of descriptions that cannot be calculated. The data collection technique in this study was to collect data from primary sources and various literature that supports the formulation of the research problem using documentation techniques. The findings of this study confirm that Indonesia's public diplomacy at the G20 Summit Gala Dinner has been successful because Indonesia has managed to attract international media attention, received a positive response from the international community, resulted in agreements and cooperation with several G20 member countries, and received positive perceptions from the international community. With the positive image of Indonesia created through the Gala Dinner at the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia can strengthen diplomatic and business relations with G20 member countries, increase tourism, and open up broader investment.
