Abstract

Digital twins are valuable instruments for model-based design, commissioning, and operation, with significant applicability potential in the construction industry. Whereas with Building Information Modeling (BIM) a standard for the representation of building models has been established, these models lack (i) modeling support for building control systems, and (ii) tool-based automation support for model-based auto-commissioning of building automation systems, an instrumental factor in putting a digital twin in operation. In this paper, we present a domain-specific language (DSL), its modeling methodology, and tool support to augment and condition BIM models for auto-commissioning. Preliminary results from an early prototype evaluation using the Technology Acceptance Model demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal in contributing to the improvement of building operations by facilitating auto-commissioning of building control systems and subsequent commissioning of digital twins.
