Abstract

The Medieval City of Rhodes is one of the most famous destinations in Greece, as it attracts more and more tourists, especially during the summer season. Given that this particular site is included in the UNESCO list, its protection and preservation are of utmost importance. Through a literature review, an effort is made to analyse the phenomenon of overtourism in the area. Both quantitative and qualitative data available on the topic were used from various sources in order to accurately frame the issues and implications of the phenomenon. Finally, several proposals are provided using a mix of strategies and mitigation measures relevant to the issue, emphasizing the importance of using QGIS.
