Abstract
Ethical decision making is key in the certification of autonomous system. Modeling and verification of the actions of an autonomous system becomes imperative. An automated model abstraction for an autonomous system is constructed based on components of deontic logic such as obligation, permissible, and forbidden actions. Temporal logic queries have been formulated and posed as queries to evaluate for ethical decision making. A prototype of the formalism is constructed and model checking is performed. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the computational feasibility of the formalism. The experimental results are presented.
